What is an Ohme Charger?

An Ohme Home Pro Charger is a smart EV charger that is capable of integrating with your time of use energy tariff in order to charge your car at the cheapest times available. The smart charger can be controlled via app or directly on the charger itself with the easy to use buttons and clear LCD display.

How Do I Pair My Home Pro Charger To The Ohme App?

You can download the Ohme App from the App Store or Google PlayStore. Once you have the app downloaded, look on the bottom of your charger for a sticker with a QR code if it is not already displayed on the charger’s screen. Scan the QR code to pair your charger with the app.

How Do I Check if the Home Pro Is Online?

Press the “info” button on your charger. Look at the top left of the screen where you will see if your charger is currently connected or disconnected. The charger screen may also turn red if the connection has been lost. Once the connection has been restored, the screen should return to blue.

How Do You Reset The Ohme Home Pro?

Ensure the charger is unplugged from the vehicle. Press the left button on the front of the charger which is labelled “info”, then click “reboot”.

What Do The Lights Mean on the Ohme Home Pro?

No Light: Vehicle is unplugged or has finished charging

Blue: Charge scheduled

Green: Actively Charging

Flashing Green: Charger is set to charge but car is not taking power

Red: Error

Can You Lock An Ohme Charger?

If you are using a wall mounted charger you can switch it off directly from the isolator switch or you can set a charge schedule for 0% on the app and activate this when you want the charger to be locked

What Mobile Network Do Ohme Chargers Use?

All Ohme chargers contain a multinet SIM which is able to connect to any of the four major UK networks -  3, EE, O2 and Vodafone. Your charger will connect to whichever network has the strongest signal in your area

Does Ohme Still Work If I Have a Fixed Electricity Tariff?

Ohme chargers can work with a standard electricity tariff but you won’t get the money saving benefits that it can provide when it is teamed with a time of use tariff such as Intelligent Octopus

How Quickly Can I Charge My Car With an Ohme Charger?

An Ohme charger such as the Home Pro that has a Type 2 cable or a Commando socket can charge up to 7kW, while a 3-pin plug can charge up to 2.4kW.

Typically it takes around 8-10 hours to fully charge a vehicle with a 3-Pin charger. Charging time can be greatly reduced to around just 4-5 hours with a Type 2 or Commando charger

What Is Max Charge?

This option will temporarily override any charging schedules and charge your vehicle at full power until the battery is full. Max charge is helpful for when you need to charge your car unexpectedly.

How Big is an Ohme Charger?

The Ohme Home Pro measures 170 x 200 x 100mm and weighs 4kg. It is available with a 5 meter or 8 meter cable and delivers a 7.4kw output

How Do You Install an Ohme Charger?

EV chargers should always be installed by a qualified electrician that is certified to install EV chargers. Attempting to install a charger yourself can be dangerous and can cause costly mistakes.

An installer will need to screw the provided backplate into the wall and securely attach the Home Pro Charger to the plate. A Junction box is then attached to the wall near the charger where the wiring will be safely connected up and can stay protected. The cable wrap and gun holster will also be screwed into the wall next to the charger for convenient, safe and neat storage.

Does The Ohme Charger Need an Earth Rod?

Ohme home pro has built in PEN protection so does not require earth rod installation. PEN fault protection automatically disconnects the live, neutral and earth conductors if voltage is above or below voltage regulations
