How To Use Dimplex Dehumidifier
It is important to allow the unit to settle for 12 hours before switching on for the first time.
1. Remove the carbon filter from its bag and place it between the dust filter and air inlet, making sure it is lined up with the guide locators on the air inlet.
2. Ensure pre-filter and carbon filter are fitted securely to the unit before switching on.
3. Plug the unit in and press the power button
4. Press the humidity control button until "cont" lights up. This sets the unit to run continuously. Leave the unit for 3 minutes and then adjust the humidity control to your desired setting. The lower the % selected, the lower the target humidity the unit will set to achieve.
5. The timer button allows you to set how long you would like the unit to run for. You can accumulate hours by cycling through the hours individually first and then the hours will begin to combine, indicated by multiple options lighting up. Using this method you could set the timer to up to 15 hours when all 4 lights are on.
6. To set the delay start function, press the timer button before turning the unit on. You can now pre-set the time for the product to switch on, for example, selecting 2 hours will set the dehumidifier to come on in 2 hours time.
7. When the water tank is full, the "full Water" indicator will light up. Remove and empty the tank and make sure to replace securely.
What Do The Lights On A Dimplex Everdri Dehumidifier Mean?
The light on the front of the Everdri Dehumidifier is a comfort humidity light which makes it easy to asses the humidity level in the room at a glance.
Blue Light - Room Humidity >70% (too moist)
Green Light - Room Humidity 50-70% (comfortable humidity level)
Red Light - Room Humidity <50% (too dry)
Flashing Red Light - Water Tank Full / Tank Inserted Incorrectly
Where Is The Best Place To Put A Dehumidifier?
Moisture travels throughout the home regardless of where it originates, so it is best to put your dehumidifier in an area where it can most easily draw air from all over the home. Areas such as landings and hallways with adjoining doors left open are the best positions in most cases. However, if you have a more serious issue with damp in one particular area you can start by placing the dehumidifier closer to the problem area and moving it to a more central point later.
When choosing where to place your dehumidifier make sure that there is a level surface with at least 50cm of space either side of the unit to allow for sufficient airflow.
When the dehumidifier is in operation, external doors and windows should be kept closed for higher efficiency and better results.
How Long Do You Leave A Dehumidifier On?
10 to 12 hours per day is an optimal amount of time to run a dehumidifier.
An average household produces around 15L of moisture per day from breathing, sweating, cooking, washing and drying laundry, so it is important to allow your dehumidifier time to extract this excess moisture from the air.
When you first begin to use a dehumidifier it is recommended that you leave it to run continuously until the humidity level falls below 60%. This means that any built up excess humidity is under control and the unit will now be able to extract everyday excess humidity.
Do Dehumidifiers Use A Lot Of Electricity?
With energy costs rising you may be wondering how much it costs to run a dehumidifier. The answer is that dehumidifiers don't cost a lot to run and can save a lot of money by preventing repairs required from damp and mould issues.
From October 2022, the average price per kWh for electricity was 34p. Using this figure, running a Dimplex EverDri 14L Dehumidifier for an hour would cost around 10p.
It's worth remembering that in the UK, dehumidifiers will generally be required during the colder winter months. Dehumidifiers also generate heat and so provide users with a dual benefit for their running cost.
Are Dehumidifiers Good For Mould?
Excessive moisture promotes mould growth so whilst, dehumidifiers don't kill mould but they can prevent it from growing by reducing humidity. Use a reliable mould removal method to kill any existing mould and then use your dehumidifier regularly to keep humidity below 60% to stop new spores from growing and spreading.
