Pod Point EV chargers are smart, meaning they can be controlled, monitored and managed remotely using the Pod Point app. This means that users can set their charger to schedule a charge at a time when electricity is at its cheapest (when combined with a time of use tariff). The new Solo 3S range is also compatible with solar energy, meaning you can charge your car from the green energy you generate at home!
Pod Point chargers offer smart charging without the need for RFID cards or key fobs, simply plug in and confirm your charge via the app. The Pod Point charging network has been voted as the most used public EV charging network by UK drivers.
What types of charging points are available with Pod Point?
Pod Point offers a range of charging points, from home wallboxes to fast chargers, ranging from 7.3kW to 22kW, meaning that Pod Point chargers are available for both domestic and commercial use. Pod Point EV chargers are compatible with all Type 2 electric vehicles.
What Type of Cable Does a Pod Point Electric Vehicle Charger Use?
Pod Point chargers are compatible with Type 2 vehicles. The socket on Pod Point units is a universal type 2, so depending on your vehicle you will need a type 2 to type 1 cable or type 2 to type 2 cable.
What safety features does a Pod Point electric vehicle charging point have?
A Pod Point electric vehicle charging point has several safety features, including 6mA DC leakage, overcurrent, PME and failed earth protection, PEN isolation system that provides earthing protection without earth rod installation, an IP54 rating for water spray protection, and a mechanical lock for the cable which prevents others using your charger.
Does Pod Point offer a warranty on its electric vehicle charging points?
Pod Point offers a 3-year warranty on its EV chargers which can be extended to a 5-year warranty.
Is Pod Point Solo 3 Compatible with Solar Panels?
The Solo 3S range works seamlessly with solar panels, no matter if you have them now or plan to install them later. User-friendly solar integration lets you power your EV with clean, free energy from the sun. In Solar Mode, your Solo 3S charger automatically uses extra solar power to charge your car, saving you money and reducing your carbon footprint.
How long does a Pod Point take to charge a car?
This depends on the size of your car's battery and the output of the charger you are using. It can take between 30 minutes and 12 hours for a full battery charge, however, a standard electric car which has a 60kWh battery will take around 8 hours to charge an empty battery to full with a 7kW charger and around 6 hours with a 22kW charger
