Hager ARM906U 6A 30mA single module 1P+N AFDD MCB (arc fault detection miniature circuit breaker). Microprocessors detect changes in electrical waveform caused by incorrect wiring, loose electrical connections, rodent bites or defective plugs and cutting the power to an affected circuit providing protection to AC circuits.
AFDD MCB’s designed to retrofit old dual RCD consumer units, where RCD protection is already available. New consumer unit installations typically use a main switch consumer unit and are then fitted with AFDD RCBO’s.
From March 2022 as per BS7671 18th Edition AMD2, AFDDs are mandatory in Higher Risk Residential Buildings, Houses in Multiple Occupation, Purpose built accommodations for students and Care homes and must be fitted at the origin of any single-phase AC final circuits supplying socket-outlets with a rated current not exceeding 32A.
The purpose of AFDD’s is to reduce the estimated 20,000 electrical fires that occur each year in the UK and it is highly recommended for any property to have one installed for the additional protection.
