Masterplug EVH132S1SPA 2.3kW Mode 2 EV Charging Unit: an IP66 weatherproof 13A unswitched socket with a built-in 16A 30mA double pole Type A RCBO, for safe home charging with any Mode 2 cable.

This compact outdoor unit turns a driveway or garage wall into a dedicated EV charging point for drivers using a Mode 2 cable. It adds around 8 miles of range per charging hour, and its localised RCBO protection keeps prolonged charging sessions safe. When it isn't charging a car, it works as a standard outdoor 13A socket for garden tools and pressure washers.

Charge Any EV from a Standard 3 Pin Plug

The unit works with all Mode 2 EV charging cables, whether UK 3 pin to Type 1 or UK 3 pin to Type 2, so it suits almost any electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle. It delivers 2.3kW at 10A from a 230V single-phase supply.

At 8 miles per charging hour, a 10-hour overnight charge adds around 80 miles. That's enough for most daily commutes without investing in a wallbox.

Built-In RCBO for Safe Overnight Charging

The adjacent 16A 30mA double pole Type A RCBO gives the socket its own dedicated protection, designed for the long, continuous loads of EV charging. Mode 2 in-cable control boxes limit DC leakage to 6mA, so a Type A device meets the IET Code of Practice for EV Charging Equipment Installation.

The socket and the RCBO each have their own weatherproof cover behind a hinged front cover. The robust polycarbonate enclosure is rated IP66 when closed, which keeps out rain, hose jets and dust all year round.

The EVH132S1SPA meets housebuilder EV specifications, making it a low-cost, future-proof way to provide EV charging provision to satisfy planning on new-build homes. Buyers get a working Mode 2 charging point from day one and a useful outdoor socket for everyday tasks.

Pre-Wired for a Quick, Weatherproof Install

The unit arrives pre-wired, so the installer only needs to connect the incoming supply to the RCBO and earth terminals. Slotted fixing holes allow some rotation adjustment to get the unit level. Supplied bungs seal the fixing screw positions.

There are 7 cable entry options: 3 M20 entries on top, 3 M20 on the bottom and 1 M20/M25 knockout on the rear. A channel around the rear knockout takes a bead of sealant (not supplied) for extra sealing when back-entry wiring. The unit should be fitted by a competent electrician on a dedicated circuit, not a spur from an existing ring or radial. That keeps the installation compliant with BS7671 and the IET Code of Practice.
