The Vent-Axia 414013 is the acoustic top box kit for the Lo-Carbon Sentinel Econiq S MVHR unit, providing in-duct acoustic attenuation at the ducting connection points on the top of the unit. Where the acoustic enclosure kit addresses noise through the body of the MVHR casing, the top box sits over the duct spigots and treats the noise that would otherwise travel along the connected ductwork into the habitable rooms of the dwelling — addressing in-duct transmission rather than direct breakout from the unit casing.

Targeting In-Duct Noise Transmission

In MVHR installations, noise generated by the unit's fans can travel along the supply and extract ductwork and emerge audibly from the supply valves and extract grilles in the rooms of the dwelling. The acoustic top box is positioned at the duct connection points on the Sentinel Econiq S, introducing acoustic attenuation material into the air path at the earliest possible point to reduce the noise energy before it propagates through the duct runs. The Sentinel Econiq range is designed with an integral acoustic enclosure made of steel, foam, and expanded polypropylene (EPP), minimising breakout noise, and the highly efficient motors are mounted on anti-vibration mounts to ensure minimal vibration transmission. The top box builds further on this by treating the duct path specifically.

The Sentinel Econiq S acoustic accessories are available as the Acoustic Solution Top Box Kit (414013), the Acoustic Solution Enclosure Kit, and the Acoustic Solution Top Box and Enclosure Kit (414014). The top box is the appropriate choice where in-duct noise transmission to the rooms is the primary concern. Where both duct-borne and casing breakout noise need to be addressed, the combined kit (414014) provides the most comprehensive acoustic treatment. Both kits use a 125mm ducting connection matching the standard Sentinel Econiq S spigot size.

The Lo-Carbon Sentinel Econiq is one of the quietest MVHR systems on the market, with a noise level as low as 15.5dB(A).
