Intelligent Octopus Go EV Charger FAQs

Intelligent Octopus Go works with a range of smart EV chargers that integrate directly with Octopus Energy’s system for automated scheduling, including models from Ohme (Home Pro & ePod), Hypervolt Home 3 Pro, myenergi Zappi, Indra Smart Lux/Pro and VCHRGD Seven series. Full compatibility allows Octopus to control charging dynamically for the cheapest and greenest times, even if your EV itself isn’t directly supported.

You can fully access Intelligent Octopus Go using a compatible smart charger (such as Ohme, Hypervolt, Zappi, or Indra) even if your electric vehicle is not directly integrated — Octopus controls the charger instead of the car.

Once installed, sign into the Octopus app, select Intelligent Octopus Go and follow the guided pairing for your charger model. You’ll link accounts via API or the charger’s app, set your target charge level and ready-by time, then let Octopus handle scheduling. Remove any conflicting schedules in your car or charger app for best results.

Most smart chargers have fallback modes and can charge manually at standard rates if connectivity is lost. For Intelligent Octopus Go, consistent internet is ideal for dynamic scheduling, but 4G-equipped models maintain reliability better.

Yes — many Octopus-compatible models excel here. Zappi offers excellent ECO modes for solar prioritisation, Hypervolt Home 3 Pro and Ohme Home Pro include Solar Boost and Indra/VCHRGD support solar integration. Standard Octopus Go provides a fixed 5-hour cheap window (around 8p/kWh) usable with any charger or EV via manual scheduling. Intelligent Octopus Go delivers a longer 6-hour window (around 7p/kWh) plus dynamic extra slots, but requires a compatible charger or vehicle for automated optimisation by Octopus.
