Shop Hager AFDD RCBOs (Arc Fault Detection Devices), designed to provide advanced protection against electrical fires, overloads and electric shock in a single device. By continuously monitoring electrical circuits, AFDD RCBOs detect dangerous arc faults caused by issues such as damaged cables, loose connections or faulty appliances, automatically disconnecting power before a fire can develop.
Combining arc fault detection with RCBO functionality, these devices offer complete circuit protection, safeguarding against overloads, short circuits and earth leakage faults. This all-in-one design simplifies installation while providing a higher level of safety compared to standard MCBs or RCBOs alone.
In line with BS 7671 18th Edition Amendment 2 regulations, AFDDs are increasingly specified for higher-risk residential buildings, including houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), student accommodation and care homes. They are typically installed at the origin of single-phase final circuits supplying socket outlets up to 32A, helping to reduce the risk of electrical fires in environments where safety is critical.
Key features of Hager AFDD RCBOs:
- 3-in-1 circuit protection – Combines arc fault detection, overload protection and residual current protection in one device
- Advanced fire prevention – Detects dangerous arc faults caused by damaged wiring, loose connections and faulty equipment
- Individual circuit protection – Isolates faults to a single circuit, reducing disruption across the installation
- 18th Edition compliant – Supports current wiring regulations, including requirements for higher-risk environments
- Compact modular design – Space-saving format for efficient use within consumer units
- Simplified installation – One device replaces multiple protection components
