Renewable-Ready Hot Water From Solar and Heat Pump

In normal operation, the CA-20/40 gives the Solar iBoost+ control of the immersion, so surplus solar generation heats your hot water instead of being exported to the grid. Because free solar energy is used first, your heat pump runs less, which lowers running costs and reduces wear.

When the heat pump calls for its legionella cycle, the interface automatically hands immersion control to the heat pump. Both devices keep working independently, as their manufacturers intended. This keeps stored hot water safe and avoids reconfiguring either system.

Quick, Straightforward Installation

The CA-20/40 saves around 2 hours on site compared with more complex alternatives. It needs no programming and has no Wi-Fi or app to set up, because solid-state logic handles the switching automatically. A simple onboard jumper sets the unit to match the heat pump's output type, which reduces set-up errors and gets the job signed off sooner.

Broad Heat Pump Compatibility

The interface accepts the four common heat pump signal types: a 230V AC supply up to 3kW, a lower-power 230V AC signal (switching in a separate 13A supply), a 5–24V DC signal, or a voltage-free contact. This means one product covers all major air source heat pump systems, so installers can stock a single interface for retrofit and new-build jobs alike.

Safety & Reliability

Onboard relays are managed by a microcontroller. A built-in safety delay disconnects the Solar iBoost+ before control passes to the heat pump, which protects both devices during changeover. The unit is housed in an IP55 enclosure, rated for 0°C to 40°C ambient temperatures, and conforms to EN 60335-1 and EN 55014-1. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician.
