Sync Energy CP5MRDPS1G IP66 External EV Consumer unit is a 100A main switch, 40A 30mA bidirectional Type A double pole RCBO and Type 2 SPD in a UV-stable anthracite grey enclosure, ready for EV and solar installations.

This weatherproof EV consumer unit gives a charger its own isolatable, surge-protected supply outdoors. The bidirectional RCBO also protects circuits where current can flow both ways, such as solar PV and battery systems. It arrives fully configured and complies with BS7671 18th Edition Amendment 4, so it's ready for today's installation and tomorrow's upgrades.

Bidirectional RCBO for EV, Solar PV & Battery Systems

The double pole RCBO is bidirectional, so it protects people and circuits even when current flows back through the device from a PV array or battery. You can use one unit across EV-only, solar-ready or combined installations without swapping protective devices.

The enclosure accommodates up to 5 modules and includes a removable 18mm blank. That leaves space to add devices later, so a customer who adds solar or storage down the line won't need a second enclosure.

Fault & Surge Protection in a Single Compact Unit

The RCBO combines 30mA Type A residual current protection with 40A overcurrent protection. It has both-pole isolation and a 6kA rating in a single compact module. It is Pollution Degree 3 tested and rated for operation from -25°C to +40°C, so it performs reliably in exposed, damp or dusty locations.

The Type 2 SPD diverts transient overvoltages to earth in under 25ns, protecting the charger and every circuit connected to the unit. A green or red status window shows at a glance whether the SPD is healthy or needs replacing, so there's no guesswork during inspections.

One-Tool First Fix with Flexible Cable Entry

A removable, raised DIN rail lets you fix the enclosure first, route cables with clear access, then refit the rail for a tidy finish. Combi-style screws mean the whole install can be done with one tool.

Drillable cable entries on the sides, bottom and base give flexible routing to suit the site. The IP66 polycarbonate housing is UV stable and fully weatherproof, and it's a more economical alternative to traditional metal enclosures. The unit is type-tested to BS EN 61439-3 and UKCA and CE marked, and it is backed by a 10-year manufacturer's warranty covering materials and workmanship.

Energy Insights with the Sync Energy App

The unit works with the Sync Energy app, which shows energy flow and usage. With Tariff Sense, homeowners can view tariff details, real-time costs and savings, so they can see how their energy is used and stored.
