I purchased this as a replacement for the original Vent Axia Inline fan that I installed some 15 years or more ago. I don't know why the original one failed there were no signs of overheating or other issues when I removed it. Sadly although it lasted a long time nothing seems to last as it should in this day and age. Built in obsolecence seems to be the order of the day!
