Frequently Asked Questions – Vent Axia Centra dMEV Extractor Fans

The Lo-Carbon Centra is a decentralised mechanical extract ventilation (dMEV) fan that provides continuous, low-level ventilation in kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms, en-suites and toilets. It runs 24/7 at a quiet trickle speed and boosts when needed to remove moisture, odours and pollutants.

Extremely quiet. It operates at just 10.8 dB(A) on trickle speed (measured at 3m) – one of the quietest dMEV fans available. Most people describe it as virtually silent and suitable for bedrooms or night-time use.

Yes. The entire Centra range fully meets Approved Document F (System 3 – continuous mechanical extract ventilation) and Part L energy requirements. It is also SAP Appendix Q eligible with very low Specific Fan Power (SFP) for excellent SAP ratings.

Traditional extractor fans only run when switched on. A dMEV fan like the Centra runs continuously at a low trickle rate to provide steady background ventilation, preventing condensation and mould before they start. It then boosts automatically or manually when humidity or odours rise.

All models come with a 5-year motor guarantee, reflecting the reliability of the Lo-Carbon motor technology.

Yes – that’s the whole point of continuous ventilation. Switching it off defeats the purpose and can lead to condensation and poor indoor air quality. The ultra-low running cost means it’s designed to stay on 24/7.
