All electric heaters turn the electricity they use into heat, so the savings come from control and timing. Smart, Wi-Fi enabled models such as Alta, QRAD and Quantum help you heat only the rooms you use. Dimplex says Quantum uses up to 27% less energy to run.

Yes, storage heaters need an off-peak tariff to make sense. XLE heaters are designed for Economy 7.

Both charge up on off-peak electricity. Quantum is the higher-spec range, with Wi-Fi control and Dimplex's claimed energy saving. XLE costs less to buy and suits a straightforward like-for-like replacement.

Yes, each storage heater will come supplied with the correct necessary quantity of bricks required for your heater.

Yes, with Wi-Fi enabled models and the Dimplex Control app. Ranges include Quantum, QRAD, AluRad, Alta and Edel. Some heaters connect through the Dimplex Hub or an RFM Wi-Fi module.

LST low surface temperature panels are designed for settings where people may touch the heater, such as care homes, nurseries and schools. For buildings where settings shouldn't be changed, PLXENC tamper-proof panels are controlled from a separate wall controller.

Infrared panels such as the Dimplex IRP warm people and surfaces directly. Standard panel heaters warm the air, which then circulates around the room. Infrared feels warm quickly, while convection panels give an even background heat.

Edel is a hot water cylinder with a built-in heat pump that takes heat from the air to warm your water. Dimplex says it uses up to five times less electricity than standard electric water heaters. It's available in 170, 200 and 270 litre sizes.
