EV Charging Cables

EV charging cables connect your vehicle to an untethered (socketed) EV charger— it's the lead that does the work every time you plug in. All cables on this page are Type 2 to Type 2, meaning they have a Type 2 connector at both ends, which is the universal standard for AC charging across every EV sold in the UK and Europe.

We stock cables in 7kW and 22kW ratings, in lengths from 5m to 25m — one of the broadest ranges available from a UK EV accessories supplier. Most home and workplace installs are well served by a 5m to 8m cable, but our longer options (10m, 15m, 20m and 25m) suit commercial car parks, fleet depots, awkward bay layouts and any installation where the charge point can't be positioned close to the vehicle's charge port.

EV Charging Cable FAQs

You need a Mode 3 Type 2 to Type 2 cable rated to match your charger's output — 7kW for a standard home EV charger, or 22kW for a three-phase charger.

Choose a length that comfortably reaches from your charge point socket to your vehicle's charge port with a little slack — 5m to 8m suits most home and workplace installs.

Measure from your charge point socket to the furthest point your car's charge port will sit, allowing for parking angle and comfortable slack. For most home driveways and standard workplace bays, 5m to 8m is sufficient.

For longer driveways, commercial car parks or fleet bays where the charge point is further from the vehicle, 10m to 15m gives more margin. We stock cables up to 25m for specialist applications including large fleet depots and sites where repositioning the charge point isn't practical.

Yes — a 22kW (32A three-phase) cable is physically and electrically compatible with a 7kW single-phase charger. The charger will simply use one phase of the cable and deliver 7kW as normal.

There is no performance benefit to using a 22kW cable on a 7kW charger, but it won't cause any harm. If you anticipate upgrading to a 22kW charger in the future, buying a 22kW-rated cable now means you won't need to replace it.

All cables on this page use the Type 2 connector standard (IEC 62196-2), which is universal across every EV sold in the UK and Europe — including models from Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Hyundai, Kia, Renault, Tesla, Polestar, Volvo, Ford, Vauxhall and all other mainstream manufacturers.

There are no brand-specific compatibility issues to consider.

Not necessarily — most EVs are supplied with a Mode 3 Type 2 to Type 2 cable. However, manufacturer-supplied cables are typically 4m to 5m, which is shorter than ideal for many home and workplace installs.

If your vehicle's cable doesn't comfortably reach your charge point from your usual parking position, or if you want a spare to leave permanently plugged at the charge point, a longer aftermarket cable is worth buying. We stock cables from 5m to 25m to cover all situations.
